To create your first listing for items for sale or swap:

  • Log into the website with your user name and password
  • Click on the Sell tab at the top of the page
  • Complete all the information as requested about your item.  On the last page click "post item"
  • In about 10-15 seconds your item will appear in your "active" listings under "my account"

The first item you list you are getting used to the site.  After that, each item you list gets easier and faster!

To create additional listings of items for sale or swap:

You have two options:

1)can either repeat the process you used to create your initial listing

2) you can use the system to create similar listings.  Here is how to do that:

  • Log into the website with your user name and password
  • Click on the My Account tab at the top of the page
  • Select the "Active" tab and a list of all your active listings will display
  • Click on the listing title of any item in the same main category (Boots, Dance shoes, Shoe Accessories, Socks and Tights, etc.) everything else can be easily edited. If you select a listing with a different category than the one you need, you can change the category by editing the listing (see below) once the listing has been posted.
  • When the item opens, click on the link in the upper left that says "create a similar listing"
  • A new screen appears and you should now change any information to make it appropriate for the new listing.  Be sure to upload new photos
  • On the last page remember to click "post item"

 

Information needed for listings:

You will find the following fields as you create your listings. Required fields are denotes with an asterisk. Note that some fields may only apply to certain types of listings. Once you have selected "Sell" you will follow a 4 step process.

Step 1 of 4 - Select the category (and sub-category if appropriate) of item you want to list.

These items will be in Step 2 of 4:

  • Selling Method* - Traditional Auction, Fixed Price Auction, or Swap Listing.
    • Category* - This is the category and/or sub-category where your listing will be located. This is selected when initiating your listing.
    • Preferred Currency* - Currency you are selling your items in.
  • Item Location* - The location the items will be shipped from and includes country and state.
     

These items will be in Step 3 of 4: 

  • Title*- The title of your listing.
  • Quantity*- The quantity of goods to be sold or traded if a fixed price listing or swap.
  • Starting Price or Price*-The lowest acceptable price for your listing (unless you specify a Reserve), or the cost of goods for a Fixed Price listing.
  • Reserve price-The absolute minimum amount you will accept for an item.  You can start bidding below your reserve but if the reserve price is not met your item will not be sold.
  • Buy Now Price-The price at which people can purchase the item if you will allow them to buy it without bidding.
  • Best Offer-This allows buyers to make you an offer on items you are selling either by traditional or fixed price auctions. When you receive the offer, you can accept or reject it.  If you accept it, the auction will end with that person as the buyer at the price they offered. 

Payment Details

  • Payment Process - This listing option will be selected by default when it is available:
    • Invoice:  Create and send invoice before allowing checkout
    • Checkout:  Allow checkout before sending an invoice
    • Immediate Payment:  Require immediate checkout to purchase
  •  Payment Details- Add any details about payment here.
  • State Tax Rate - One or more state-specific tax rates can be defined here, depending on the buyer's location.

Shipping Details

  • Shipping Rates - The seller's shipping rates for the initial and additional items can be set here values can be set here.

Listing Information

    • Gender* - You must select a gender for all items; select "Not Applicable" when it does not apply
    • Size* - You must select a size for all items; select "Not Applicable" when size does not apply.
  • Width*- You must select a widthfor all items; select "N/A or Uknown" when size does not apply.
  • Heel Height- You can select a heel height of the shoes or leave this blank and describe it in the detailed description field.
  • Color- You can select a color of the shoes or leave this blank and describe it in the detailed description field.
  • Condition- You can select the condition of the shoes or leave this blank and describe it in the detailed description field. 
  • Detailed Description - Any information about the item(s) for sale or swap.

These items will be in Step 4 of 4:

    • Listing Duration*- The number of days to run.
  • Auto Relist - Allows you the option of having your items automatically relist if they go unsold (a multiple item listing that has had at least one sale will not be auto relisted).
  • Hit Counter- how many people have viewed your listing
 
  • Home Page Featured-Your listing will be randomly selected to be displayed in the homepage featured section
  • Category Featured-Your listing will be featured at the top of category lists.
  • Homepage Gallery-Your listing will be randomly selected to be displayed in our homepage gallery section. 
  • Highlight Listing- A colored highlight that may make your listing stand out.
  • Bold Listing-A bold headline that may make your listingf stand out..

 


 

Adding Images:

You can add images when you list an item. You can also edit a listing to include additional images.

Images must be in .jpg or .gif format.

  • .jpg - File format that reduces file size without reducing image quality.
  • .gif - Common file format used specifically for web graphics.

To upload an image (from the 'Sell an Item' form):

  • Click "Browse"
  • Locate the image file on your computer
  • Select the file name
  • Click "Open"

To change an image (from the 'Sell an Item' form):

  • Check the box marked "Delete"
  • Click "Browse"
  • Locate the image file on your computer
  • Select the file name
  • Click "Open"

The images that you choose for your listing can be interchanged. If you do not like the original image order, you can rearrange them by changing their sequence number.

 

It may take a few moments for images to upload, especially if you are using a lot of them, so please be patient.

 


Editing a Listing:

Complete listing information can be edited IF:

 

  • Auction - The item has recieved 0 (zero) bids
  • Fixed Price Listing - 0 (zero) items have been sold

 

If a listing has received bids or one of multiple items have sold, the following changes can be made:

  • The Seller can append a note to the item description
  • Listing Options can be added

To Edit a listing:

  • Log into the website with your user name and password
  • Click on the My Account tab at the top of the page
  • Select the "Active" tab  under Listings and a list of all your active listings will display
  • Click on "edit listing" for the item you want to edit"
  • Make the changes to the available fields.
  • Be sure to click the button "Save Changes"

 


 

 To end a listing early (immediately):

  • Log into the website with your user name and password
  • Click on the My Account tab at the top of the page
  • Select the "Active" tab  under Listings and a list of all your active listings will display
  • Click on "end early" for the item you want to end
  • The system will ask if you are sure 

 To make an invoice:  

  • Login the website with your user name and password
  • Click on the My Account tab at the top of the page
  • Select the "Successful" tab - located on the left side
  • Click on the little box next to all the items you want to place on the invoice.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the "Assign items to invoice" button (make sure the dropdown box just to the left of the "Assign item to invoice" button reads, "Create new invoice")
  • You can now open the invoice by clicking on the "view/edit invoice" button.

To add items to an invoice:

  • Login the website with your user name and password
  • Click on the My Account tab at the top of the page
  • Select the "Successful" tab - located on the left side
  • Click on the little box next to all the items you want to place on an existing invoice.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page and and you will see a dropdown box just to the left of the "Assign item to invoice" button. It should read, "Create new invoice") click on the dropdown box and find the buyer's name and invoice number you want to add the items to
  • Click on the invoice you want to add the items to
  • Once you have the right buyers name and invoice number showing up in the drop down box, click on "Assign items to invoice"
  • You can now open the invoice by clicking on the "view/edit invoice" button

To Delete an item from an invoice:

  • Login to the website with your user name and password
  • Click on the My Account tab at the top of the page
  • Select the "Successful" tab - located on the left side
  • Click on the "view/edit invoice" button located just below the item you want to remove from the invoice.
  • Click on the little box next to all the items you want to remove from the invoice.
  • Click on the "save changes" button at the bottom of the invoice

Why should you make an invoice using If The Shoe Doesn't Fit:

  • Once you make an invoice, you will have the buyers e-mail address and mailing information inside of the invoice
  • The buyer will also have your e-mail address and be shown where they can send payment
  • The buyer can not delete items from their area unless they are marked paid

To build a store:

  • Login to the website with your user name and password
  • Click on the My Account tab at the top of the page
  • Select the "Storefront" tab - located on the left side at the bottom of the page
  • Click on the "create a storefront" button
  • Insert the requested information;upload your logo and banner
  • Make sure you save the changes on the last pages
  • When you have done that the system should create your store with your own
    store URL as:  
    iftheshoedoesntfit.com/stores/USERNAME.asp  or if your store user name has spaces they will be replaced with hyphens and it will be formatted as: iftheshoedoesntfit.com/stores/USER-NAME.asp

If The Shoe Doesn't Fit provides store owners with the ability to have listings bulk uploaded.
